Patient barred from going to India for kidney transplant

The state has stopped a university student from travelling to India for a kidney transplant.

The Ministry of Health said such services are available in Kenya so there is no need for Kenneth Kinyua to go abroad.

The Information Technology student at Mt Kenya University was diagnosed with stage five kidney failure last year. He has been undergoing three dialysis sessions every week

The 24-year-old is underweight. He was 65kg in August, 2017, but now weighs 30kg.

"He underwent three surgeries last year, I think this caused to his kidneys to fail," his guardian...
